Why is it free?
Everybody deserves access to financial knowledge, and IDK was founded with a mission to deliver that access to as many people as we can.
Been there.
In 2022 I got sick of making more money every year and still feeling like I was getting nowhere. Paycheck to paycheck, barely making rent, nothing in savings, paying minimums on the credit cards. If I was ever going to get out of debt, I had to rearrange my spending, and my mindset, and make a plan.
By the next summer my cards were paid off, I had a decent emergency fund, and I was about to start attacking my car loan.
Then I was laid off.
The job search dragged on through the roughest market I’ve ever seen, and by the end I was leaning on credit cards just to cover rent and groceries. It was during this time that I made a small app to help us stay on budget at the grocery store that would later become “IDK MyGroceries”.
When I landed a job in January 2025, I was sitting at nearly $30K in debt. My first focus was to get back on the attack and destroy the debt (again) so I could get back on track with my plan that I started before the layoff. In 2026 I’ve achieved that goal and have set another one: Share my strategies with others who are going through similar situations.
